Showboating

It's almost finals crunch time, so I've been really terrible about writing in this blog... oh well.  It'll hopefully improve next year! :D

Anyway, I just wanted to say something about what I've been seeing more and more frequently now that a lot of people I know are applying to graduate schools.  And I will admit that I am guilty of doing this for a while ... but then I realized how much it annoys me and how inconsiderate it may be to others, so I decided to stop doing this.

I decided that I really hate it when people post sh!t about their applications--like where they're interviewing next, what schools they got into, or even what schools people where people are planning to apply.  It all just feels like people are showing off constantly, trying to get the attention of others.  Oh yay, I'm going to the University of Bestestness so that I can be an awesome professional when I grow up!

Ugh.  I'm so sick of reading these.  There's not even any point to publicly show off where you're applying.  That's just retarded.  I don't give a f*ck if you're applying to the top school in the nation.  You know why?  ANYONE could apply to the top school in the nation.  That tells me nothing special about you, which defeats the purpose of posting because I assume that you want others to think you're really smart or special when you post these things.

I hate it a little bit when people post where they are interviewing next... Like okay, someone asked you for an interview.  After going through 9 of them, I can confidently say that where you are interviewed does not even f*cking matter.  To be honest, I am getting interviewed at a super good school next week ... but it literally does not say anything about me as a successful applicant.  I have about 7 waitlists, remember?  Gah.

What I decided that I cannot stand is people who openly brag about the schools they got into.  Yeah yeah yeah, justify it with all the hard work you've done and whatever else, but can we please be a little bit classier about it?  Why don't you just have a party and tell your friends?  Why do you feel like you need to broadcast it to everyone?  Do you not realize that you are hurting the feelings of all the people who desperately wish they could be in your position?  That is just really inconsiderate.

And for that matter, I've decided that I hate it when people hold on to multiple acceptances when they KNOW they are not going to attend that school.  That is such a b!tchy thing to do.  That is just an ego trip.  I hate that.  Those self-centered a$$holes really do not understand that there are so many other people underneath you who are trying to get one of those coveted spots that you are going to throw away like garbage in a few months anyway.  UGH.

Okay, that is all.  Good luck to those taking finals soon!
