What happened to good music and cartoons?

Or, rather, why is our culture heading in this direction?

So all of the cartoons that were cool when I was a kid--Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, and all that nonsense-- are now on Boomerang.  What the hell?!  Boomerang, the channel for super old cartoons from the 1960s?  Why is my childhood on this channel?  I don't even understand.

But what I understand even LESS is all of the live action shows on Cartoon Network.  Um, hello?  You're freaking Cartoon Network . That means that you should be playing cartoons ...?  I mean, the new stuff they have isn't really that good anyway.  Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was okay, but that got cancelled.  I suppose some of the cartoons are okay, but the live action stuff is just awful.

What the hell happened to Nickelodeon, too?  I don't know who has worse programming--Nickelodeon or Disney.  Both are now pretty terrible (although I feel like Disney was pretty awful to begin with).  iCarly?  Ew.  I don't even know what the Disney channel plays anymore.

Aside from being a little bit devastated about how my childhood is over, I really do struggle with the music industry in this country.  What happened?   Did people always sing about the trashiest things?  (Haha, Ke$ha.  You are SO trashy, but that's why people like you, I guess.)  I feel like a lot of the 'popular' music is not made by people who are actually talented in comparison to the good old days.  And I'm not even talking about my childhood days, but I'm talking about the 80s, 70s, etc.  That's when music was really ... soulful, I suppose.  I don't know.  I hate listening to the radio because it's all garbage

I think people should be known for their real talents, not just their outer beauty (if they even have any) or because their parents are rich or whatever.  It's a shame.  Not a lot of talented people make it to the top simply because there are so many other losers cluttering the way.

  1. Not a cartoon, but I grew up in the age of Power Rangers! But yeah, dexter's laboratory was pretty freaking cool. So was cow and chicken.

  2. OH MY GOSH!!! How could I forget about Cow and Chicken?! That was SO ridiculous. And Courage the Cowardly Dog. SO strange. So awesome.

Maybe the Power Rangers weren't as popular when I was a child? Or maybe they were, but I was (and still am) a fan of animated television in place of live action... hahahah.

What the f are kids watching these days? Or is that just how every new adult feels?
