Sure, let's toast to that ... (with a bottle of jack?)

So this is about New Years (which tells you how behind I am with my posts!).

I don't know if anyone out there used to watch that new years eve nonsense with Dick Clark every year ... but I never really liked watching it.  It always was just shots of a bunch of people partying outside in the cold, or in places where I'd rather be.  Everyone was carefree and having such a good time, just waiting for the year to start.  And some artists would perform, announcers would just talk about how good the performances were and how it's almost time for the year to change over, etc.  How pointless.



I don't really understand the 'tradition' of kissing someone right on the dot.  I mean, sure, it means something if you're kissing your significant other... but I never understood why people would just kiss random strangers.  That is so bizarre to me.  And kinda gross.  What's the message of that?  I simply don't understand it.

I just remembered this because this year, there was one 'reporter' who was talking about how she HAD to kiss someone, and the hotter the person was then the better.  She was such a shallow bubblehead, it was disgusting.

And to top it off, Ke$ha performed.  She is so trashy, and I guess she appeals to the trashy side of our culture.  Don't get me wrong, I like trash in smaller doses (hello, MAURY!!), but Ke$ha is just disgusting and sending out so many bad messages to her younger fans.  I suppose lots of people do that, but ... she's just gross and I did NOT want to ring in the new year with a performance from her.  Ew.
